wherever a day can take you

It’s already been a long 7 months since Christmas and it’s definitely a good time for a holiday but I can’t get away right now. However I need a fix - even a small one. Just something to keep me going and to give me a little revitalization until I can book out of the city for a summer vacation.

I took a quick trip out of town on the weekend - just a jaunt out to a few vineyards and tried a few wines I don’t normally have access to. We sat on a few patios and explored some roads to see where they would take us. We ended up at a few really interesting vineyards with some incredible views of the lake, the escarpment and the surrounding vineyards. No one would ever have guessed I was in Ontario if I sent a picture. On the route we also found some great little antiques and yard sales where I bought a few things I likely didn’t need but they make a great addition to the garden top balcony! They also provide a really interesting contrast of country treasures on a downtown roof top deck.

Coming back to the city, I realized that even though I wasn’t gone long - an unexpected day out of town in an unexpected location took my mind off all the things I had on my plate - even if it was only for awhile. That break from reality gave me the quick fix I needed to make it through another week. Sometimes there is nothing more refreshing than getting lost.
