The summer of Jacq - or not

When I was in my early to mid-30’s - it felt like every summer weekend was taken up by a wedding, a bridal shower or a stag and doe. I remember having 7 weddings in one summer! Wedding season has finally died down amongst my friends as most of them are either married, or have decided to run away and go south for their wedding - which means a great party when they get back. And then there are the rest of us - single with a commitment-free summer freedom ahead of us - or so we thought.

Just when I thought I was out of those fully booked summer wedding weekends, it occurred to me that the ‘wedding’ has been replaced with the “Surprise 40th birthday party” weekend. As I click through to organize my inbox - i see a stack of EVITES for so and so’s SURPRISE 40TH BIRTHDAY! Naturally I have rsvp’d yes to all because I love a party - and my friends never fail to do it up right. 

It does leave me wondering though, after we all hit the 40 milestone and have the wedding behind us - what will I do with my wedding-free, 40th free summer weekends?
